East London Printmakers

Tanya Haye

A healing journey has returned me to creativity through my present practice which combines exploration with thread, material and written marks. Scrim is most commonly used in printmaking to remove ink, but I enjoy the essence of using it as a creative substrate. I love to write on it by sewing, stitching and tempering it with words of introspection. By gathering threads of cotton, linen and wool in union, I discover that the canvas and words merge together in reflective being. Each mark that I create is integrated through printmaking, translating textual fibre and an inky trace. This allows for an imprint to be revealed as one layer with many threads.
