Tanya Harris
Artist Tanya Harris creates intimate portraits of immersive human experience, the joy of being in a liminal state, daydreaming, bathing and swimming. Her portraits are characterful, exploring how we feel when time slows down, moments extend and we connect to our subconscious. Her artistic process is drawn from emotional sensibility, recording human fragility and capturing beauty. Tanya Harris creates ten tone etchings through aquatint onto copper plates. The artist creates diptychs and triptychs connecting gestural movements within moments of time. Tanya Harris’ artistic practice is rooted in life drawing, and as a portrait painter. She learnt Etching at Camden Arts Centre before training in Fine Art at Camberwell, Leeds, Madrid and Nottingham. Tanya Harris’ artworks have been exhibited in Galleries and Museums, she has been a commissioned artist creating films for Hackney Museum, the NHS and UCL East; and created pubic art installations in London, Leeds and Nottingham. Tanya Harris is a member of East London Printmakers, Artist in Residence for Bow Arts, Artist Educator for the Courtauld Institute of Art and she facilitates Portraiture Workshops and Masterclasses at The National Portrait Gallery.
