Phyllida Shelley

Phyllida Shelley specialises in drawing, printmaking and 3D, working in print studios, her studio in Cookham and on location. She investigates visual narratives of human existence on sites of historic interest and is currently developing work during her residency at Cookham Abbey, inspired by the archaeological excavation of an Anglo Saxon Royal Monastic settlement. Creating work alongside archaeologists from the University of Reading, Phyllida explores the connection of archaeology with creativity. She blends her approach to drawing and printmaking by working directly onto plates, drafting film, and mono printing. Her prints celebrate the significant archaeological research project and enrich the wider community's connection with our past, present and future.
