East London Printmakers

Paul Hannon

Paul is a former financial journalist now working as a painter and printmaker in southwest London. Woodcuts and linocuts are his artistic heartland, deriving inspiration from the techniques of Edvard Munch and some German Expressionists. Instead of printing large blocks of solid colour, Paul takes the reductive techniques of woodcuts and linocuts to the limit, often producing what are fine line drawings, teeming with movement and pace. A lot of his images border on abstraction. He has recently concentrated on imagery akin to stained glass windows, suggesting a form of narrative art. Paul keeps his edition sizes quite small, with each one typically limited to a print run of 25 prints.
