I explore processes of the natural world through print. My practice centres on the materiality of printmaking—where flow and obstacle, resist and corrosion, sedimentation and loss in the creation of the plate, the force of pressure and the unpredictable interaction of ink and substrate become active forces within the work. Rather than seeking metaphor or narrative, I aim to capture the dynamic forces of nature, creating pieces that resonate with the viewer on a visceral level, telling of the evolving vitality of everything. With a background in theatre design and crafts, I bring a tactile sensitivity and intuitive understanding of materials to my printmaking. Years spent as a breakdown artist and prop maker have honed my attention to texture, wear, weather and actions of forces—sensibilities that now underpin my use of substances often derived from the landscapes I visit and worked into pigments and inks, flowing mediums and resists
