Cathy Hull

Cathy Hull creates bold, abstract silkscreen prints from acrylic paint brush and sponge marks. The elements have energy and appear random, time is spent manipulating the shapes in Photoshop to create a balanced whole. Cathy is particulary interested in how transparent and opaque colours interact with each other, creating windows to a previous layer. The colours chosen are intuitive, the intent is to harmonise. The series of prints create a joyful reaction. Cathy seeks to uplift the viewer and to create a distraction from a troubling outside world. Cathy’s love of silk screen printing came after studying advanced printmaking at City Lit.
