Cai Tuomivaara

Cai Tuomivaara (She/They) is a researcher-artist who moves between the tactile and the digital through a wide range of transdisciplinary visual and performative experiments. Their research focuses on fugitive pedagogy in machine imaginary for racialised bodies. Their most recent body of visual work explores cellulose- and mycelium-based biomaterial experimentation within the broader context of posthuman materiality and knowing, as well as industrial applications. They also have 10+ years of experience working as a brand and design strategist, developing emerging products and services in new energy vehicles and transportation, regenerative materials and green energy. Since 2019, they have been teaching various postgraduate courses in design and innovation at prestigious institutions between London and Cambridge.
