Course Leader: Rebecca Holmes
CMYK Advanced Screenprinting
You’ll learn how to prepare and separate images for cyan, magenta, yellow and black, and turn them into accurate film positives using bitmaps in Photoshop. Working in our studio, you’ll be reminded how to coat and expose screens, prepare films and prepare ink ratios. The course includes practical demonstrations and hands-on printing with a focus on registration, helping you achieve sharp alignment and maximum detail across all four layers.
By examining how the order in which colours are printed affects the final result, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how to control tone, saturation and layering in your work. We’ll also explore experimental approaches to CMYK printing such as masking, colour adaptation and alternative print orders to enhance your creative options.
By the end of the course you will have completed a four-colour print and gained the technical skills to continue developing your own practise in the Studio and be well equipped to use the studio’s facilities independently during Community Access sessions.
