Paper Marbling

East London Printmakers is pleased to welcome our friend Simon Goode from the London Centre for Book Arts (LCBA), for a special one-off masterclass in Paper Marbling.

An ancient technique of creating a surface design, most commonly onto paper, that mimic the look of smooth marble. Marbled papers have been used to adorn books for centuries.

In this class, you will learn how to prepare your paper, set up your marbling bath, mix inks, and create a variety of marbled patterns. At the end of the session, you will leave with a collection of hand-marbled papers and the skills to make more at home.

      Tutor Bio

Simon Goode and his partner Ira Yonemura both founded LCBA back in October 2012, where they uniquely became the first and only studio of its kind in the UK. Their beautiful studio is located in the creative hub that is Hackney Wick and offers people the opportunity to collaborate and learn about printing, binding, and publishing through a dynamic educational program and open access facilities.

Both ELP and LCBA share a similar passion and outlook on the Arts and therefore share concession rates on workshops for their Associate Members.

Visit their website to find out more about the incredible work they do within Book Arts.
