Janet Brooke

Statement

I am a printmaker by conviction, with a passion for the city. My subject is the urban environment: from the minutiae of the street to the grand panoramic view; from derelict buildings to the latest glass-clad tower.

There are echoes between subject matter and process: the way my prints are built up with many layers of over-printed colour is similar to the way a city evolves with each generation and tribe adding to what has gone before.

Background

Janet Brooke has exhibited extensively over a number of years and has works in both private and public collections, including the Museum of London, The Open University and PB Oil. Most recently she has just completed commissions for Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford and the Respect Party. She is also a member of The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE).
