Iona DeSouza

I work as an illustrator and mixed media Printmaker, with a focus on storytelling that sheds light on the everyday nuances and values of societies different to our own, here in the UK. By exploring my own family's past of Indian heritage and immigration, or spending time in other countries I collect pockets of inspiration, piecing them together like a collage. Aspects of mythology, traditions and memories play a strong part in my prints alongside an amalgamation of isolated shapes and colours from distant places. In the same way that combining a mixture of print processes and materials allows me to make my (mostly) mixed media pieces. I want to celebrate and give narratives to the wide and complex diversity of this world, whilst having fun with the process and overall imagery.
