ELP @ The Xmas Independent Label Market 2014

We’re really excited to be making an appearance at the Independent Label Market in Old Spitalfields Market again this Christmas.

Launched in 2011 the market is an event which offers record labels an opportunity to meet both their audience and their peers. The label founders need to be present to gain a stall, this ensures that it is a true opportunity to meet the people running the businesses.
Since it’s beginnings in Berwick Street the market has grown and has been taken all over, from London to Los Angeles and from Toronto to Berlin! This Christmas ILM are supported by AIM – the Association of Independent Music.

As part of a creative industry that supports record labels we were invited to get involved with with market for the first time in the summer of 2013.
Since then ELP have made a regular appearance in London and have had the pleasure of exhibited with some greats including Telegramme and the UK Poster Association.

This time we’ll be showcasing some brand new work from our fantastic artists. There will be £10 prints up for grabs, including this one designed and hand screenprinted by Helen Ashton especially for the event.
In keeping with the spirit of the market our artists will be manning the stall which will give you the opportunity to meet with the artists and discuss their work and printmaking techniques.

We’re really excited to have the opportunities to be involved again in such a great event. We admire its commitment and support of creative industries and their success in bringing them together.

Oscar Eaton

ELP Artist in Residence September – December 2014

During his residency at ELP, Oscar Eaton is working on a series of zinc plate etchings focusing on the heroic age of exploration at the turn of the 20th century.

He has been searching the Royal Geographic Society’s photographic archives and isolating imagery from the original footage of Scott and Shackleton’s South Pole expeditions to gain source material from which to work. He has also been collecting imagery from Mallory and Irvine’s 1924 Everest expedition and is beginning to work with footage from the Apollo 11 moon landing.

He is interested in man’s obsession with the exploration of geographical frontiers and how his physical connection with nature in such extremes has changed over time due to technological advancement.

Oscar studied fine art at UAL Camberwell (2008-9, Foundation), Marmara University, Istanbul (2012, Erasmus) and Newcastle University (2010-13, BA).

He now lives and works in South London.
