Here’s some photographs from Sarah Lawton’s Master Workshop at ELP.
Sarah has spent some time working with artisans in the UK, India and other places across the world. Informed by her studies in textiles, her printmaking practice is mainly focussed on fabric printing. She prints using carved or engraved wood blocks creating motifs to print onto directly onto garments or larger fabrics.
One focus of the workshop was on using the tools, blocks, pigments and materials she has collected on her travels, whilst working with other artists and crafts people. The second element was making a collaborative print, which is an intrinsic part of Sarah’s artistic practice.
Huge thanks to Sarah for running the workshop as part of her residency at ELP. We’re looking forward to Sarah’s return to the studio for her project key holder residency!

We had a fantastic time at our print stall at the Independent Record Label Market the other Saturday, and what a market it was!
The sun was shining on Old Spitalfields and crowds flocked to get their hands on exclusives and new releases from a variety of record labels and samples of some of London’s finest beer.
The market was the busiest we’ve seen it with people travelling from all over to meet their favourite labels.
In the midst of the record labels East London Printmakers had a stand selling some of the hottest work being made by ELP artists. The work spanned all printmaking techniques from screen printing and linocut to etching and lithography.
The stand looked amazing, and the quality and variety of work was more impressive than ever. We had brand new prints from specific artist including Eliza Southwood and Pat Lunch and work designed especially for the market by Narcsville.
All in all it was a great event and we’re really grateful to ILM for inviting us to participate once again.
Huge thanks to all that made it such a great event and special thanks to the organisers for putting on such a great event once again!
You can see more photo’s of the event here.
This Summer East London Printmakers will be making their first appearance at Hackney WickED Art Festival.
Hackney WickED was initially set up in 2008 as a series of local art events to highlight and celebrate the diversity of artistic practise and creativity in the area. It allowed visitors to explore artist studios, live-work spaces and up-and-coming galleries.
Hackney WickED is now in it’s 7th year and has grown year by year. ELP will be part of the Hackney WickED Art Festival, a 3 day event celebrating all things creative, attracting thousands of visitors from all over.
On 2nd & 3rd August from 12pm – 6pm ELP will have a Print Stall where there will be £10 prints up for grabs along with other fantastic print related bargains.
