Opportunity: Artist in Residence

Since East London Printmakers’ tenth anniversary in 2008, the studio has been running a residency programme.

The purpose of this opportunity is to promote professional development in printmaking and to create an arena for visiting artists to share their knowledge and experiences with ELP members. The programme supports the development of new work and access to a network of artists in London.

Based in the heart of East London’s contemporary art scene, ELP is dedicated to providing professional and affordable facilities in such a vibrant area.

Two artists per year will receive:

  • 24-hour access to the studio’s facilities, 4.5 days a week
  • £100 budget for materials
  • £200 fee for running a one-day master workshop
  • Free membership of East London Printmakers for one year
  • Storage space for materials and a plan chest drawer

Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for a project lasting no longer than twelve consecutive weeks, focusing on either screen-printing, relief or intaglio or combination. The programme encourages experimentation and practising artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. The programme is open to local, national and international artists. Applicants need to be self-sufficient as this opportunity does not include accommodation or expenses for materials.

Application deadlines:

  • 1 December for Artist Residency between January and June
  • 1 June for the Artist Residency between July and December

Opportunity: Project Keyholder at East London Printmakers

Selected artists/ designers will have the opportunity to gain 24 hour access to the printmaking studio for 8 consecutive weeks.

The aim of the project is to encourage and promote the professional development of creative individuals. This will also be an opportunity to engage with other artists and designers working in the studio creating a platform for discussion and collaboration.

Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for a project lasting no longer than 8 consecutive weeks. This project encourages experimentation and practising artists from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Coinciding with London Design Festival, East London Printmakers is opening its doors

Creating an opportunity for you to see the studio in action. As well as a chance to see the facilities there will be a £10 proof sale.

The studio will be open from 2 – 6.30pm on both Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September. We look forward to seeing you there.

Summer show

Shoreditch Town Hall plays host to our summer show.

This year, East London Printmakers will be holding its annual summer show at Shoreditch Town Hall Basement. Over 70 artist printmakers, all using a wide variety of approaches to print, will be exhibiting their latest work.

East London Printmakers is an independent collective of artists based in Hackney. Established in 1998, ELP celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. The studio was set up with the aim of providing a printmaking resource to promote the creative potential of practising artists and individuals in the local community. The spacious studio provides open access facilities and courses. It also organises exhibitions and events for the benefit of its members.

Recent ELP exhibitions have been held at Forman’s Smokehouse Gallery, the Freud Museum, Space Studios and the V&A Museum of Childhood. The annual Box Set of prints is held in the print collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum. The ELP Box Set of Prints 2012 will be launched at the exhibition.
