Using the Studio: Events
ELP co-ordinates professional development and social events for the benefit of participating members (outlined below). The studio is a meeting point for artists to network with the East London community and visitors are also welcome to join us during print sales or open studio events.
Open studio weekend
Saturday 28 June 12-10pm and Sunday 29 June 12-6pm
Annual event inviting visitors to the East London Printmakers studio
Thirty artists and members participating in open print sale and exhibition. Including print demonstrations and live jazz headlined by Delectation. Jointly organised with Le Gun Studio.
Artist's talk
ELP members and guest artists are invited to give presentations about their work.
On 12 February guest artist Leigh Clarke gave an entertaining and inspiring talk about his career. From his early works, influenced by Warhol among others, Clarke started using a combination of paint and screenprinting, sometimes to produce hyper-realistic portraits such as 'Pat Malone', based on collector's figurines, sometimes to comment on political stories as in 'Save the kidz' and 'Justice'. Leigh also told us how he has combined his other role of being a stand-up comedian with his private views, and humour is present too in much of his artwork, such as 'Good news out of bad news project'. You can see his work at www.leighclarkeworks.com and new work at the forthcoming group show at Nettie Horn, 25b Vyner Street, from 21 March - 20 April.
Peer critique
ELP members are invited to bring their artwork to share their ideas and receive feedback from others in an informal atmosphere.
Breakfast club
A popular social event aiming to give members a chance to meet each other and chat in an informal atmosphere whilst stuffing their faces with baked goods. Bring something edible to share - coffee and tea provided.
