Statement
My latest work explores how planning and property development influences our cities and landscape. This ties in with my work as a town planner/economist as well as an artist.
'Food for Thought' is a mixed-up exploration of the excitement of plans for new tall buildings in London, the issue of carbon emissions and global warming, and work I and colleagues have been doing on a new sustainable food hub for London.
'St Pancras Under Development' seeks to illustrate the enormous amount of work and history that goes in to major development - the history is under the surface, as is all the services and supporting infrasructure.
'Pathway to a Millennium Cock Up' is a reflection on the ideals, egos (and links with sexual drives), conflicts and waste of the Dome and Greenwich peninsula regeneration, focused around efforts to re-open the riverside path to the Dome in the period leading up to the year 2000.
My other work covers themes including: travel on the old routemaster 38 bus (drawing upon renaissance colours and compositions); the paradoxical beauty of spaghetti junction at night; images of an easy listening night at the former Trafalgar Pub in Birmingham; and a series on people close to me and how I perceive them and the things that have influenbrowned and shaped them and me.
