Statement
In my current work I continue to use a direct approach of documentation to move closer to the body and investigate flesh. Our skin is the most basic thing that defines us. It describes our age, our ethnicity, our gender and our personal histories. Through close up photographs I explore the reality of the changing body.
My intentions are that the images will document on a large scale the intimate details of skin that can betray a persons' history; changes in body shape, signs of weight loss/gain, scars, folds, and so on. The images are reproduced on a large format so as to bestow an almost iconic status upon the subject, thus promoting the notion of the individual as something of significant importance to be celebrated in this manner and scale.
