Statement

Disregarded, damaged or even disturbing things have always fascinated me, and I have so far found inspiration in such diverse subjects as abandoned vehicles, urban debris and microscopic bacteria.

Through a gradual process of deconstruction and re-contexualising, I have discovered that there is beauty to be found in the darkest and most unexpected places.

As an intrinsically seductive, yet potentially hazardous and threatening material, glass is the perfect medium for me to explore this unsettling paradox.

My glasswork is divided into two main strands: larger-scale printed, painted and layered glass installations for the built environment, and smaller-scale one-off vessels and sculptural pieces that combine screen-printing with a range of glass-making techniques including fusing and slumping.

I also make a range of handmade glass and silver jewellery.

Background

Originally a painter, I went on to study Glass in Fine Art and Architecture at Central Saint Martin's School of Art. On leaving college I set up a studio at Cockpit Arts Studios, Deptford, where I have been working ever since.

Recent exhibitions include an installation of my lightbox work at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine entitled 'Icons of Malaria' and a display of my printed and fused glass vessels at The City Gallery, Leicester, entitled 'Style-O-Rama'.
