Statement

I am very enthusiastic about my course and work in general. Having previously studied in London, Edinburgh, Prague and working in New York, I believe different surroundings contribute towards diversifying both the learning experience and the visual development as an artist and a person, and as such I always endeavour to explore different working environments. I strongly believe that knowledge and the awareness of different cultures are essential in my own artistic work and practice, an attitude also employed in my understanding and acquisition of new skills and techniques, be it printmaking, drawing, computer aided design, photography, or 3D work. I am continuously experimenting with new ideas and trying to push the limits and boundaries of what is understood as conventional and familiar, the quotidian and mundane... My influences are endless. I am constantly on the lookout for the widest possible range of inspirations in art and design, and less obvious objects. To list but a few of my major sources of motivation: Duchamp, Schwitters, Rauchenberg, Donovan, Batchelor, Adid, Marimekko, Tapies, Hirschorn, friends and family, and the less expected icons one encounters by chance.

Background

Ivonne is a graduate from Grays School of Art, Aberdeen where she studied printmaking.

A true experimenter she constantly explores ideas of print, breaking boundaries and working with a very reactionary work ethic. She has lived, studied and worked in various locations in the UK, Europe and the USA developing a very urban style dealing mainly with themes of consumerism and recycling - elevating the ordinary. She is continuously bringing together fine art and design and has settled on an understanding that everything comes together in the final composition.
